BLEVINS
Calapooia River
1877 - 1932
August 17, 1877: "The contract for building the Blevins' bridge, on the Calapooia near Tangent, has been let to Mr. J.D. Nelson, of this city, and that gentleman is now rushing the work along as fast as possible. He has agreed to have it ready for use by the 1st of September, as by that time the hauling of wheat will commence in earnest. The bridge is to be covered after the style of the one near this city and will cost $1,000, half of which is paid by the county, and the other half by the people living in that vicinity," (The States Rights Democrat)
November 4, 1932: "Road work supervised by Grant Thompson continued last week on a section of road leading to the new bridge crossing the Calapooia river at the Blevins crossing. The old covered bridge, another landmark of horse and buggy days, was recently replaced with a span more adequate to serve the traveling public." (Corvallis Gazette-Times)
