August 17, 1895: "Sealed bids will be received by the County Court of Lane county, Oregon, at the office of the county clerk until Thursday, September 5th, 1895, for the construction of a covered bridge across the Coast Fork of the Willamette river, near Wallace Shortridge's saw mill. Said bridge to be a 75 foot span, double bents of smooth black cedar, and 20 feet from bed of stream to chords, with approaches 24 and 45 feet respectively.

May 14, 1917: "The Lane county court has advertised for bids on five bridges to be erected in Lane county during the coming summer. All structures with one exception will be of wood. Bids will be opened May 31.
A fourth is the Shortridge bridge south of Latham in the southern part of the county with a 100-foot span and 135 feet of approaches." (The Springfield News)
