DEE
Hood River
August 16, 1917: "The wagon bridge across Hood River at Dee and the one across the East Fork of Hood River at Trout Creek will be closed to travel about August 20 and will remain closed while the new bridges are being constructed. By order of the County Court, A.R. Cruikshank, Dep. Co. Engineer." (The Hood River Glacier)
October 11, 1917: "Judge Blowers and Commissioner Hannum, who Sunday inspected the two new bridges being constructed across Hood river, one just north of Dee and the other where Trout creek enters the stream, say that the work will be completed within the next few days.
Both bridges are of the Howe truss type, new to the Hood River valley. The piers are of concrete. Both bridges are also roofed in, which is also an innovation in local road and bridge construction. The bridges cost each about $6,000. The Dee bridge was constructed by H. Cramer, and the Trout creek structure by Stranahan & Slaven.
The county authorities state that Mr. Cramer has been subjected to criticism that he in no wise deserved. The work of constructing the bridge at Dee was necessarily slow, the piers having to cure for 21 days before they could be used. It was also absolutely necessary to tear out the old bridge before the piers for the new structure could be placed." (The Hood River Glacier)
November 8, 1917: "H. Cramer has completed his contract for the construction of a Howe Truss Bridge across Hood River at Dee and the same has been accepted by the County Court and final settlement will be made at their next meeting. By Order of the County Court." (The Hood River Glacier)
April 11, 1918: "The County Court of Hood River County will receive bids for the painting of the bridge across Hood river at Dee, and bridge across the East Fork of Hood river at Trout creek'
Bidder to furnish labor and materials for work.
Work to be broom cleaned and painted with one coat of Red Mineral paint. Roofs not to be painted.

Dated April 6th, 1918. Kent Shoemaker, County Clerk, By E.E. Shoemaker, Deputy." (The Hood River Glacier)
April 25, 1918: "George Barr was awarded the contract for painting the Dee and Trout creek bridges." (The Hood River Glacier)
November 24, 1921: "Damage resulting from collapse of buildings, their roofs caved in by burden of snow, will run into the thousands of dollars. Monday reports from all districts brought news.
A covered county bridge across the east fork of Hood river at Dee collapsed." (The Hood River Glacier)
