May 17, 1905: "In the matter of the Bridge across the north fork the Coquille river at Lee, Oregon:
The matter of the bridge at the above mentioned place being considered, and it appearing that the bridge is in a dangerous condition and that a new bridge should be built. It is therefore ordered that L. Harlocker, county judge, have plans and specifications prepared and advertise for bids for the construction of a bridge at Lee, Oregon, and that said bids be opened at the July, 1905, term of this court." July 5, 1905: "The county court will receive sealed bids for the rebuilding of the bridge across the North Fork at Lee." (Coquille Herald)
August 2, 1905: "In re building a bridge across the North Fork of the Coquille river, at Lee, Oregon.
Now, at this time this matter coming on to be heard, and after consideration by the court the bid of J. D. Bennett, the same as being the only bid presented, for the sum of $1925, for building the above named bridge according to the plans and specifications drawn by the county surveyor, being the best, lowest and only bid, therefore, and the same being approved by the court:
It is, therefore, ordered that the bid of J. D. Bennett for $1925 be accepted upon his giving a bond of $1500 to be approved by the court said bond to be given before the 11th day of July, 1905." (Coquille Herald)
August 2, 1905: "In re Payment on Lee Bridge....
Whereas, the county court has entered into contract with J. D. Bennett that when the material for building the Lee bridge across the North Fork of the Coquille river near Lee, Oregon, is delivered on the ground at the bridge site, to pay the said J. D. Bennett 80 per cent of the cost of the same.
It is, therefore, ordered that L. Harlocker, county judge, be and he is hereby authorized to estimate and determine the amount due the said J. D. Bennett, when the material has been delivered on the ground at Lee, Or., and make and order directing the county clerk of Coos County, Oregon, to draw an order on the county treasurer in favor of said J. D. Bennett for 80 per cent of the said material as a part payment for the construction of said bridge, said warrant to be drawn on the general road fund." (Coquille Herald)
August 2, 1905: "The mill at this place has been given the order for the lumber by Contractor Bennett, for the construction of the North Fork bridge, at Lee." (Coquille Herald)
November 1, 1905: "County Commissioner E. A. Anderson, of Marshfield, came over Monday and accompanied Judge Harlocker to Lee, where they examined the bridge at that place recently constructed by Contractor J. D. Bennett. The Court is highly pleased with the structure, Mr. Bennett having carried out the design of the court to their perfect satisfaction." (Colquille Herald)
November 8, 1905: "In re payment for the balance due for constructing Lee bridge:
Order: When said bridge is accepted by two of the members of this court, L. Harlocker, county judge, be authorized to make an order directing the county clerk to draw an order on the county treasurer in favor of J. D. Bennett for the balance due on said contract." (Coquille Herald)
