ZIG ZAG
Zig Zag River
September 27, 1956: “The old outmoded one-way bridge located on the Lolo Pass road at Zig Zag will be replaced by a new structure slated to begin going up soon. The contract will be let on September 28, Friday, according to Oregon State highway officials.
The new bridge will be constructed with county funds but under the supervision of the state highway commission, County commissioner Stan Skoko said.
The old structure is confined to one-way traffic and will not support heavy loads forcing logging trucks to by-pass the area. School children must unload at one end of the bridge and walk over, reloading on the other side. The bridge is considered unsafe for the loaded school bus.” (The Sandy Post)
