May 14, 1917: "The Lane county court has advertised for bids on five bridges to be erected in Lane county during the coming summer. All the structures with one exception will be of wood. Bids will be opened May 31.
One of the bridges is known as the Gallagher bridge across a slough north of Santa Clara, on one of the roads leading from the Pacific highway to the river. This will have a 45-foot span." (The Springfield News)
