April 28, 1949: "Six covered bridges on the Coos Bay - Roseburg Highway, which have served for more than 27 years, are being replaced by the State Highway Department because they are narrow and considered hazards to modern traffic.
The structures are all being replaced with reinforced concrete viaducts in which all of the supporting members are below the deck and protected from any damage by the traffic." (The News-Review)
