July 19, 1898: "The County Court of Coos County, Oregon, will receive sealed bids, plans, strains, diagrams and specifications until Wednesday the third day of August, 1898, at the hour of 9 o'clock in the forenoon of said day, to build a bridge across the Middle Fork of the Coquille River where the county road crosses same at Mrs. Hoffman's place, said bridge to be about 165-foot span, more or less, the same height of old bridge at said crossing, abutments to be cedar piles not less than 12 inches in diameter at the top end, caps of said bridge to be red cedar, all timbers used in said bridge to be cedar or yellow fir: The grade of approaches to said bridge not to exceed 18 inches to the rod; flooring on old bridge to be used as far as it will go, balance to be furnished by the county.

August 9, 1898: "Contract for building bridge across the Middle Fork at Mrs. J. Hoffman's place awarded to J.B. Bennett for the sum of $2341." (Coquille City Herald)
December 6, 1898: "The county court, in called session, has received the Hoffman bridge near Myrtle Point, which they pronounced a first-class bridge. J.D. Bennett, of the North Fork, was the contractor, and it cost the county about $2200." (Coquille City Herald)
August 5, 1904: "NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS"
"The County Court of Coos County Oregon, will receive proposals to build a wing to the Hoffman bridge on Middle Fork of Coquille river until 2 o'clock p.m., Saturday the 20th day of August, 1904.
Said wing to be constructed in the following manner, to-wit: Beginning at the East end of the pier of said bridge on the South side of said river, running in a South-Easterly direction 344 feet to an alder tree marked 'X,' near the top of bank, the piling to be of white cedar not less than 7 inches in diameter at the small end, to be driven 8 feet apart and at least 3 feet below the river bed, the piles to be capped on a level with pier of said bridge, with 8 x 10 inch caps and planked with 2 x 12 inch planks, said planks to be spiked to piles with 60d spikes in end of each plank where same rests on pile, the space between planks not to exceed 2 inches. The wing to be braced by piles driven near the bank on the South side of wing and 16 feet apart, a brace running from same at the ground to piling in the wing near the top of piling in wing and to be notched so that half the brace will rest against the pile and securely spiked and all material used to be of good, sound merchantable timber.
The contractor to furnish all material and labor necessary to be used in the construction of said wing. All work to be done in a good and workman-like manner and under the supervision of the County Court of Coos County, Oregon, or one of the members thereof. Each bidder will be requested to deposit with his bid five per cent of the amount of his bid, which shall be forfeited to the County in case the award is made to him, if he fails or refuses, for the period of two days after such award is made, to enter into contract and file his bond in the manner required by law and to the satisfaction of the County Court upon the day appointed.
The County Court reserves the right to reject any and all bids. All bids should be filed with the County Clerk on or before the time specified.

August 26, 1904: "Sealed bids will be received by the undersigned at Coquille, til September 1, 1904, for cedar pilings, dry preferred, as follows: 44 pieces, 50 feet long, not less than 7 inches at small end. 22 pieces 30 feet long same size, and 22 pieces 16 feet long, same size, delivered at south end of Hoffman bridge or in the river at the bridge.
