LOOKINGGLASS CREEK
Lookingglass Creek
____ - 1949
April 28, 1949: "Six covered bridges on the Coos Bay - Roseburg Highway, which have served for more than 27 years, are being replaced by the State Highway Department because they are narrow and considered hazards to modern traffic.
The structures are all being replaced with reinforced concrete viaducts in which all of the supporting members are below the deck and protected from any damage by the traffic." (The News-Review)

June 2, 1949: "Lookingglass Bridge, across Lookingglass Creek on Coos Bay Highway, will be closed to traffic for about four hours Friday, June 3, according to an announcement from the State Highway office in Roseburg.
Closure at about 10 a.m. is required while the contractors, Linstrom Bros., move the bridge to temporary piers alongside the old location. The bridge will be set up to serve as a detour, while a new concrete structure is erected at this location during the summer months.
During the closure, traffic will be detoured over the Olalla road, a distance of about 7 1/2 miles, between Coos Bay Highway mile post 50 and mile post 56. Lookingglass Bridge is located five and a half miles west of the junction with Highway 99 at Winston.
Moving of the structure, a 105-foot Howe truss span, will be done with special equipment, and will take the estimated four hours." (The News-Review)
