December 1, 1936: "The covered bridge on the Pacific highway, spanning the Calapooia river two miles north of Shedd and the only covered bridge on the highway between Eugene and Portland, has been bought by the Lane county court and it will be placed over Fall creek on the Pengra road.
The bridge will be torn down and the material hauled to the site on Fall creek. The highway commission is building a new modern bridge to replace it." (The Eugene Guard)

May 6, 1938: "Four huge fir timbers for use in building the new Pengra bridge over Fall creek are being hewn out by Miller Sorensen, bridge foreman, from trees felled on the McKenzie river. Two of them will each be 16 by 18 inches and 130 feet long, while the otrher two will each be 14 by 18 inches and 120 feet long.
The timbers will be taken to the bridge bridge on county trucks. Actual work of construction has not yet been started as there is the possibility of high water in the streams." (The Eugene Guard)
May 19, 1938: "The two huge timbers hewn out of trees cut near Hendricks bridge for the Pengra bridge now being constructed on Fall Creek were moved Wednesday under the direction of Arthur Striker, county bridge foreman. Both are 14 by 18 inches and one is 130 feet long while the other is 100 feet long." (The Eugene Guard)
