(Corvallis Gazette)
September 21, 1961: "Philomath Garden club has interested Benton County commissioners and park officials in preserving the covered bridge , si tenths of a mile south of Philomath on the Independent Road, and turning some of the surrounding land into a public park.
Work is underway on the new county bridge flanking the covered one and it is scheduled to be in operation by the end of October. Earlier plans were to tear down the covered bridge as soon as traffic was allowed on the new one." (Corvallis Gazette-Times)
December 18, 1963: "The Benton County Park board said Tuesday it will look into the feasibility of repairing the covered bridge at the south edge of Philomath.
Board member T.J. Starker estimated the cost of repairing the covered bridge at Philomath, including painting, at about $500. Participation by the Philomath Garden club will be sought, Starker indicated.
He said he would see if land west of the bridge is available for purchase as a park site in conjunction with the covered bridge." (Corvallis Gazette-Times)
