November 24, 1921: "An approach to the Salmon creek bridge above Oakridge is badly damaged, preventing traffic over that stream." (Morning Register)
May 5, 1926: "A crew of men arrived yesterday and will be employed in constructing the new Salmon creek bridge. J. E. Damewood is foreman of the work. The crew will camp at the Lily Dale camp ground which is just cross Salmon creek." (Morning Register)
June 6, 1926: "Work is progressing very nicely on the new Salmon creek bridge. The excavation has been completed for the north pier and the concrete will be poured today. The piling is being driven on the south approach, according to J. E. Damewood, foreman of the crew.
A. C. Striker, bridge superintendent, was here Friday to look over the work that is being done.
The bridge will have one span and if work progresses as it has been it will be completed in about 30 days." (Morning Register)
July 16, 1926: "The work on the bridge across Salmon creek is progressing rapidly and cars can now cross on the bridge." (Eugene Register-Guard)
February 22, 1927: "The county bridge across Salmon creek at Oakridge was endangered yesterday, according to word received by County Judge Barnard. The water broke through the revetment built to channel of the creek and the approach to the bridge was being undermined, it was stated. The creek was falling rapidly, however." (Morning Register)
February 24, 1942: "The Salmon Creek bridge at the upper end of the city of Oakridge has been reopened to traffic after having undergone repairs since the first flood in December." (The Register-Guard)
July 19, 1947: "Residents of Oakridge should have a new bridge over Salmon Creek by the end of August, P.M. Morse, county engineer, revealed Saturday, as he told of a $29,795 bid award to Timber Structures Co., of Eugene, for the work.
The bridge will replace one washed out during the winter of 1945. The bridge will be 183 feet long, of tressed wood construction, and will be above possible floor damage levels.
The structure will be capable of supporting 'any load which is legal on a state highway, although the road is county owned.' Morse said.
Location of the bridge will be 1/2 mile east of Oakridge near the Salmon Creek ranger station. Work is now progressing on approached to the future bridge, Morse said." (Eugene Register-Guard)
