August 27, 1910: "The big wagon bridge on the main Lake Creek road at Greenleaf was burned a couple days ago and other smaller county bridges have been destroyed. The county will have to spend thousands of dollars to repair the damage in that locality. The road is not yet clear from fallen trees and the stages are unable to get through, although the mail carriers go over the route on horse back." (The Eugene Guard)
September 21, 1910: "Commissioner Price was in the west part of the county last week and arranged for the rebuilding of the county bridge at Greenleaf, which was recently destroyed by fire during the big timber fires. Frank Hazlett has been employed to superintendent the work and Dan Linton and others will be sent out from Eugene to assist in the work. It is a 50-foot span covered bridge and the materials have been secured in the neighborhood and will be delivered on the ground. Mr. Price says he got an excellent deal for the timbers, lumber and shingle, and the bridge can be replaced for about $800. The one destroyed by fire was a comparatively new one, having been built only about three years ago." (Morning Register)
October 2, 1910: "Commissioner H.M. Price started this morning with Dan Linton and George Kinsey for Greenleaf, where, under the direction of Frank Hazlitt, who formerly lived in Eugene, they will rebuild the covered bridge, which was destroyed by fire during the timber fires last month. They will probably be gone a couple weeks though the lumber and everything is now on the ground ready to commence work." (Morning Register)
