TILLER
South Umpqua River
____ - 1931
May 14, 1919: "The Tiller bridge is to undergo badly needed repairs, so it was announced this morning. The center span of the structure is very weak and cement piers will be put in, replacing the wooden underpinning." (Roseburg Review)
July 29, 1931: "O. N. Pierce, Portland bridge contractor, was awarded the contract for the construction of the market road bridge to be built over the South Umpqua river at Tiller, connecting the South Umpqua road with the Tiller-Trail cut-off. The successful bid was in the sum of $15,769.50, which provides for a steel structure. The bridge is to consist of a 135-foot steel span, built on concrete piers with a concrete deck. There will also be 209 feet of trestle approach." (Roseburg News-Review)
