May 6, 1932: "The county court at the regular session today authorized the construction of the Lake creek bridge in Loon Lake valley and directed the county roadmaster to secure bids for the necessary lumber.
The bridge is located at the southerly end of the valley across Lake creek on market road No.3. This road extends from the Umpqua river, southerly to the county line and connects with a Coos county road leading to Alleganey and Marshfield. The Silver and Golden falls were recently made accessible by the construction of this road.
The bridge itself will consist of one 60-foot covered wooden truss and five 21-pile approach bents. The estimate calls for approximately 47,000 feet of lumber and will be built by the county bridge crew under Homer Gallop, bridge foreman." (The News-Review)

July 16, 1932: "The county crews, in addition to maintenance work, are engaged in several new projects. The bridge crew is completing the construction of a new bridge over Lake creek, at Loon lake, and work will be started within a few days on a short section of new road. The present road overflows during high water, and a new grade is to be established at a higher point." (The News-Review)
February 18, 1937: "Kenneth Gustafson of Ash Valley transacted business here Monday; he reports that the recent heavy snowfall in his vicinity caused the top of the covered bridge on the Loon Lake road to cave in." (The Coos Bay Times)
February 23, 1937: "The Douglas county bridge crew, with Homer Gallop in charge, has put a new roof on the covered bridge near Loon Lake. The old roof was caved in by the heavy weight of snow." (The Coos Bay Times)
January 9, 1948: "County road patrolman Clyde Rydell of Reedsport has a crew of men at work on the Loon Lake road, clearing a place for the approach to a new bridge to be constructed at the site of the present covered bridge on Mill creek, just below where it leaves Look lake. The present bridge now carries a three ton load limit sign put on by county officials, but is still used for heavy loads occasionally.
The new bridge, to be built by Tom Lillebo, Reedsport contractor, will have concrete piers for a base, with creosoted timbers and decking. It will be built on an angle instead of straight across the creek, which will partially eliminate two sharp curves, one at each end of the old bridge. Dynamite is being used to remove a large boulder where the down-creek approach of the new bridge will be located." (The Coos Bay Times)
April 1, 1948: "The new $60,000 bridge spanning Mill creek near the outlet of Loon lake was opened to traffic Tuesday morning. The bridge was built by contractor Tom Lillebo of Reedsport, for Douglas county. It was of timber construction, with concrete piers for support, and is built angling across Mill creek to partially eliminate the two sharp curves existing at the ends of the older covered bridge being replaced.
Lillebo's crew has started tearing down the old structure, this work being included in the contract. Heavy loads of logs are trucked out over this bridge during the summer months, and much heavy machinery moved over it." (The Coos Bay Times)
