April 13, 1916: "The County Court will shortly call for bids on the construction of a new 75 foot covered bridge across the Mohawk at the junction of the Mohawk and McKenzie rivers." (The Lane County News)
April 27, 1916: "Sealed bids will be received by the County Court of Lane County at Eugene, Oregon, until Saturday, the 6th day of May, 1916, at the hour of 1 o'clock p.m., for the construction of a covered wood bridge with approaches over the Mohawk river on Co. Road No. 321 in Sec. 17, Tp. 17 S., R. 2 W., W.M.; The span to be 75 feet long and the approaches 90 feet; according to the plans and specifications now on file in the office of the County Clerk, Eugene, Ore." May 1, 1916: "The second bridge for which bids will be received is located at Yarnell on the Mohawk river. The third bridge is located at Walton and will be built on the loop road below Santa Clara. Both the Yarnell and Walton bridge are to be wooden construction and covered." (The Eugene Guard)
May 8, 1916: "Actual work on the Yarnell bridge will not be started immediately, according to Mr. Libby." (The Eugene Guard)
May 16, 1916: "The last of three bridge contracts awarded by the county commissioners last week, was signed this morning by George Breeding, when the members of the county court accepted his bond and ratified the contract.
The bridge is to be erected across the Mohawk river near Spores. Specifications were changed slightly from the plan and under agreement as signed today the structure is to be 100 feet in length instead of 75 feet. The bridge is to be built of wood and will be covered.
The contract price of Mr. Breeding's bid is $1780. Actual construction will start tomorrow." (The Eugene Guard)
December 10, 1916: "The report shows that three new wagon bridges were built during the year, one 100 feet long over the Mohawk river, known as the Yarnell bridge, at a cost of $2388.35." (Morning Register)
March 1, 1917: "Report of the cost of roads and bridges in Lane county for 1916. Covered wooden bridge, 100-foot span, at Yarnell, $2388.35." (The Eugene Guard)
July 11, 1939: "A county bridge crew is at work on the Yarnell bridge on the Mohawk, reinforcing the piers. Some of the timbers had begun to show signs of rotting." (The Eugene Guard)
