October 13, 1926: "Considerable bridge work is under way in the McKenzie highway district.
On the McKenzie bridge a part of the side covering has been taken out from one end of the bridge to provide a 'window' to eliminate a blind end so that car drivers may see other vehicles approaching. Joe Damewood has charge of the bridge work." (The Eugene Guard)

March 23, 1945: "The old covered bridge across the McKenzie river at McKenzie Bridge was razed Thursday after it had stood there for more than 40 years.
Fifteen or 16 years ago the route of the state highway through McKenzie Bridge was changed a quarter of a mile to the north of the old highway on which the covered bridge was located and a modern concrete span was built over the river. The wooden bridge continued in use, although there was very little traffic over the road that led to it.
The span was built in 1904, by the late L.N. Roney, pioneer bridge builder and contractor, who built so many of the covered spans in the early days. It was one of the few remaining bridges of this type." (The Eugene Guard)
