SEVEN MILE HILL
South Santiam River
August 11, 1926: "The Linn county court is commencing the construction of a bridge on the Santiam highway across the Santiam river at the foot of Seven Mile hill as its part of the improvement of the highway beyond Cascadia. The United States government through its forest service is spending $15,000 this year building the road around Bryant Mountain and is giving the county credit on its eventual appropriation for putting the highway over the Cascade mountains for $8,000, which it estimates the bridge will cost.
The structure is of truss construction, with a 125 foot span. The material is hewn timbers. The bridge is being placed on cedar piling, set in crib style, so that concrete piers can be constructed later." (Albany Democrat-Herald)
