1907 - ____ & ____ - ____
April 24, 1907: "L. N. Roney and force of men finished up the Marcola bridge Monday, and for several days teams have been able to cross on it. It is a very substantial structure, and promises to last many years, as it is well built." (Morning Register)
July 7, 1925: "Erection of a new bridge to replace the present Marcola span will be started in the near future, according to Clinton Hurd, county commissioner who yesterday inspected the bridge and reports that it is in a dangerous condition. The covered span of about 100 feet will be inspected again by the county court and the bridge superintendent in order to determine whether to erect the new bridge on concrete piers or drive piles, Mr. Hurd states." (The Eugene Guard)
July 8, 1925: "To inspect the bridge at Marcola, Clinton Hurd, county commissioner, made a trip to that district today. Word was received by the county court from O.S. Callison, of the county bridge crew, that the covered span of between 15 and 80 feet was in bad condition and that repair work was necessary. Reports were received last week that the span was weak and that an inspection and repair work was necessary. The action of the county court will depend on the report of Mr. Hurd." (The Eugene Guard)
