April 16, 1917: "County Surveyor H. W. Libby and County Commissioner M.H. Harlow last Thursday afternoon went to make a tentative survey to ascertain probable cost of a bridge Thurston residents have petitioned for over a slough north of that place." (The Springfield News)
June 14, 1917: "Owing to the fact that there is such a great quantity of hay being cut in the vicinity of Thurston, which they will be unable to haul out, a delegation of people from that place petitioned the county court Tuesday to construct a bridge over the second branch of the McKenzie river on the road running north from Thurston. The county court told them unless there is some unexpected outlay for _________ bridges now in use they ________ to be able to build the bridge ____ed for this fall." (The Springfield News)
August 9, 1917: "The county court yesterday decided to ask for bids, the construction of the Thurston bridge and the Debrick slough bridge. Both are wooden bridges with concrete abutments." (The Springfield News)
