January 6, 1923: "The contract on the Yokum bridge, to be built on the Riddle-Pacific Highway road, was let today to Catching and Ryan, whose proposal was very satisfactory, being below the estimate of the state engineers. The contract was let for $11,410.48.
The bridge will be located on the road to be built from Riddle to the Pacific highway. A large amount of bond money has been appropriated for this project which is also being aided by other funds. This will shorten the distance from Riddle to the highway and will give a direct road which will be called upon to bear heavy traffic." (The News-Review)
