1917 - 1945
September 8, 1917: "The Eugene water board on Friday evening opened bids for the 85-foot bridge over the tail race of the city hydro-electric plant at Walterville. There were two contractors submitted bids. L.M. Roney bid $4,600 for the bridge with concrete abutments and $3,500 with piling supports. W.O. Heckart bid $4,695 with cement and $3,278 with piling. The board took the bids under consideration, and will take the matter up with the county court. The bridge will be on a new county road, and is being built by the water board as a part of the settlement with parties through whose land the tail race runs." (The Eugene Daily Guard)
January 16, 1946: "The 80-foot span across the tail race on the Camp Creek road a mile and a half below Walterville, completely carried away, will soon be replaced, making it possible for marooned residents to go to work by car instead of boat." (Eugene Register-Guard)
