October 14, 1915: “There is a call for bids for the construction of a wooden covered bridge across the Molalla river at the mouth of Trout creek. This bridge will be a great factor in the development of the country on the Molalla river. It will connect with the Gurnsey road on the west side and make it possible for the settlements on each side of the river to have access to each other.
The residents on the east side of the Molalla are in hopes, that, when the mail routes in this section are adjusted, which should occur in the near future, they will get on a rural route on account of the building of this bridge which will enable a mail carrier to serve them without retracing his way.” (The Molalla Pioneer)
October 14, 1915: “Sealed proposals for the construction of a covered wooden bridge across the Molalla river near the mouth of Trout creek seven miles southeast of Molalla, will be received until 10 a.m. October 23, 1915, according to plans and specifications on file in the office of the County Clerk in the Clackamas County, Oregon. H.S. Anderson, Judge; W.H. Matoon, Commissioner; A.H. Knight, Commissioner.” (The Molalla Pioneer)
October 29, 1915: "George Lammers was awarded a contract Saturday for the construction of a covered bridge with a span of 70 feet, across the Molalla river at Trout Creek, for $625. The bridge will be built of wood and finished January 1. Five bids were received by the county court, the Lammers bid being the lowest." (Oregon City Enterprise)
February 17, 1916: “The Gurnsey bridge will soon be open for travel. Road supervisor Shanks is superintending the grading of the approach to the bridge, this week.” (The Molalla Pioneer)
February 24, 1916: “The new bridge on the Guernsey road is now completed so the Molalla river can be crossed at that place.” (The Molalla Pioneer)
