July 12, 1901: "Emery J. Mills was awarded the contract for siding in and roofing the Taylor bridge, across Nehalem, for $80, that being the lowest bid." (St Helens Mist)
September 6, 1901: "Emery Mills and family came over from Pittsburg Sunday, Mrs. Mills going to Portland to visit for a few days and Mr. Mills going to Rainier to look into the matter of bidding on the construction of the long bridge across Fox creek. to be put in by the county. Mr. Mills has the contract for siding up and roofing the bridge across Nehalem, above Vernonia, but being unable to procure the material the work has not yet been done. Similar work on the Pittsburg bridge has been completed." (St Helens Mist)
