1919-20: Bridge No. 482. Plans were completed for a 60-foot covered wood span and a 38-foot trestle approach over Sandy Creek on the Coos Bay - Roseburg Highway. (Fourth Biennial Report of the Oregon Department of Transportation)
1921: "Bridge No. 482: 60' Covered Wood Span, 38 lin. ft. Trestle over Sandy Creek on the Bridge-Remote Section, Coos Bay-Roseburg Highway. Completed at a cost of $8,188.63." (Fifth Biennial Report of the Oregon State Highway Commission)
April 28, 1949: "Six covered bridges on the Coos Bay - Roseburg Highway, which have served for more than 27 years, are being replaced by the State Highway Department because they are narrow and considered hazards to modern traffic.
The structures are all being replaced with reinforced concrete viaducts in which all of the supporting members are below the deck and protected from any damage by the traffic." (The News-Review)
December 14, 1949: "The covered bridge across Sandy creek on highway 42 near Remote is to be preserved, under maintenance by Coos county.
This was announced in Coos Bay today by K. D. Lytle, division engineer for the state highway commission.
Lytle said he has just received instructions from the highway department not to carry out the original plan of razing the span. A new modern concrete bridge across Sandy creek now carries the highway traffic. The old covered bridge, alongside, was to have been torn down.
The Coos-Curry Pioneer and Historical society intervened and the county court cooperated, making a proposal to the state that the bridge be maintained as a point of interest and to carry foot traffic across the creek." (The Coos Bay Times)
