PUDDING RIVER
Pudding River
1911 - ____
October 18, 1911: "The new bridge across Pudding river, three miles east of Gervais, on the new Gervais-Mt. Angel road, is near completion. L.D. Garwood has charge and is pushing work as fast as possible. Weather permitting, the bridge will be open for traffic by November 1. Road supervisors have the road open to the bridge on each side of the river, so Gervais and Mt. Angel will soon be able to go to and from over a route three miles shorter than before." (Statesman Journal)
1925-1926: "On the Mt. Angel-North Howell road at Sta.68, 1 1/2 miles west of Mt. Angel, a bridge with 80-foot steel span and 360 feet of pile trestle approach was contracted to Olds Construction Co., at a bid price of $12,400. Up to December 1, 1926, the approaches and one pier had been built at a cost $7,711.38, and the other pier and steel span will be put up in 1927. The new bridge will replace an old covered bridge and greatly improved alignment has been secured." (Seventh Biennial Report of the Oregon State Highway Commission)
