August 13, 1936: "County Commissioner H.A. Renninger reports that the Gilkey bridge over Thomas creek and the six-mile section of road between Lebanon and Crabtree is expected to be finished in two weeks." (Statesman Journal)
September 14, 1936: "Filling incidental to construction of the Gilkey bridge, serving the county road near Gilkey station, is under way, according to Walter Larsen, county engineer, under whose supervision the bridge is being constructed at the behest of the county court.
The fill will require approximately 2400 yards of dirt, according to Engineer Larsen, all to be placed by dump trucks.
The county engineer also reported that work is nearly completed on the new Waterloo bridge, which will replace the old structure, and on which work has been in progress this summer." (Albany Democrat-Herald)
